Pinellas Westcoast schools emphasize high academic achievement by building respect for academic success. The PWA framework combines computers in every classroom with innovative teachers all teaching in their certified field creating lesson plans founded in proven educational models. 21st Century learners deserve a 21st Century education and Pinellas Westcoast delivers. Teachers utilize an instructional framework that is designed to deliver the core academics, critical thinking skills, collaborative abilities, and technological proficients necessary to strengthen post-secondary readiness. All of our 9-12 courses are aligned with the Florida Standards Assessments.

 

Pinellas Westcoast High School utilizes a digital curriculum provided by Apex Learning. The digital design of Apex Learning offers students the ability to actively participate in their own learning. Lessons are designed to provide “opportunities for students to explore, apply, practice, and confirm their understanding.” Students are encouraged to examine further, to analyze, and to come to conclusions. Students also have options to move ahead at their own pace, or to take additional time to master more difficult material. 

 

In our classrooms, students are invited to think beyond the curriculum, to apply their new knowledge to their own lives and to embrace creativity and innovation. Teachers are emboldened by the understanding that each student is unique and lessons are created to engage today’s learners and to promote higher learning.

Our current school grade of a "C", but our administration, teachers and students are all confident that our newfound identity and an added focus on data driven lessons will easily improve our grade over the coming months.
